PLATE 9
PHOTOGRAPHIC FORGERIES

Although the excistance of these forgeries has been known and documented for a long time, there appears to be no listing of the letterings which are known to excist, and therefore the size of the original block that was used in their production. In an attempt to get this information together the following list, (illustrated where possible), gives details of all the examples we know off.

Looking at the known letterings it would appear that these forgeries were made from a complette sheet.

It is known circa 1957 that a complette sheet from plate 9, (in red), was still in excistance, and we now believe this to be the source for these forgeries. This sheet was later broken into blocks.

The stamp lettered RB was brought from one of Robson Lowes auctions as a genuine stamp. Later this was discussed with Robson lowe and agreed to be a photographic forgery. (read an account of that meeting).
