The

I T PICKERING
collection

The Maltese cross

The collection formed by Mr I T Pickering on the Maltese Cross postmarks was a truly superb collection, not only for the items it contained, but also for the information it pulled together relating to this distinctive cancellation.

The collection, (which contained 128 pages), has, in the past, been displayed in part at national and international exhibitions. However, many students of postal history will not have had the chance to see the entire collection in its full glory.

In 2003, the collection was sold to a dealer, (Mark Bloxham), and over a period of time this was split down and sold as individual items. We compiled this reference, (originally without permission), to preserve the collection as it was formed for the benifit of future generations who would find the insights of Mr Pickering useful in their own studies.

Contained here are all 128 pages from the original collection along with enlarged pictures of many of the items to allow easier identification. We hope you enjoy this colection as much as us and that it adds a little to your knowledge of this fascinating area of British postal history.

At the top and bottom of each page are links to step forward or backwards through the pages. Also included are links to step 10 pages in either direction, which will enable faster access to a previous or known point. At the very botton of the page is a section which gives details of any enlargements avalible from the current page. Using these will open the picture in a new window and where there are multiple items, these can again be steped through in the same manner as for the full pages.

A vast number of the enlargements have not yet been added to the pages as we felt it more important to get the entire collection avalible for viewing. Also the links to jump forward / backwards by 10 pages are not yet active. These will be added in as soon as possible.
